Laser Based Cataract Surgery

Pacific Eye Specialists is proud to offer our cataract patients laser-based  cataract surgery.  We use the revolutionary LenSx® laser to perform several of the key steps of cataract surgery that were previously  performed using a hand-held blade for incisions and ultrasound waves to remove the cloudy lens (called phacoemulsification).

Today, LenSx technology is allowing our cataract patients to have more precise and safer surgery due to the precision and customization that comes with computerized laser treatment.

Laser-Based Cataract Surgery Potential Benefits

  • Our surgeons can take more precise measurements at the beginning of surgery to truly understand the unique characteristics of your eye.
  • The technology allows for complete 3-D visualization and real-time video imaging
  • For several key steps of the surgery, the hand-held blade is replaced with laser precision for less “human” error
  • The capsular incision and lens fragmentation processes are more precise.  Since the laser softens the cataract, the resulting ultrasonic steps require less energy – a potentially great advantage in your recovery.
  • Treatment can be completely customized for each unique eye
  • The combination of laser precision and accuracy adds a level of safety that has become the new standard in modern cataract surgery.
  • Laser controlled micro-incisions are also used to help correct astigmatism, giving you an improved chance of excellent vision without dependence on glasses.
